Florida Occupant Protection Resource Center
Florida Child Safety Seat Distribution Program
The Florida Department of Transportation Safety Office has provided funding to purchase car seats for distribution through the Florida Occupant Protection Resource Center (OPRC) to trained/qualified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) instructors and technicians. These car seats along with a demonstration of proper fitting and function can be provided to individuals who meet and sign the Poverty Certification Form. The OPRC is excited to be the organization that will purchase and handle the statewide distribution mechanism for the current year. The single most effective safety device available to reduce child injury and death from automobile crashes is a properly installed and fitted car seat. The purpose of the program is to provide car seats to individuals (for a nominal fee) in order to reduce injuries and deaths. Child Safety Seat Recipients are encouraged to share resources in order to meet the need in their area.
