Tracking Florida CPS Law Initiative HB 225

Florida has the most lenient law for child passenger safety, allowing for children over age 3 to occupy a vehicle with only a seat belt as a restraint. Improvements to the law are in consideration now in HB 225. These bills have passed the Florida House of Representatives. Track their progress on the Senate website:

SB 454 - Child Safety Devices in Motor Vehicles 
Child Safety Devices in Motor Vehicles: Providing child restraint requirements for children age 7 years or younger who are less than a specified height; redefining the term “motor vehicle” to exclude certain vehicles from such requirements; requiring a law enforcement officer to issue a warning and give educational literature to an operator of a motor vehicle during the grace period under certain circumstances, etc.
