IIHS Best Booster Seat List; FDHSMV Car Seats

2017 Best Booster Seats – The Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety (IIHS) published its list of the best booster seats
for keeping children safe inside vehicles. This year, 13 out of 16 booster
seat models earned the IIHS’s highest rating. Car seats are not available through our
grant yet. We encourage you to highly promote another car seat source:
donations from citizens renewing their tags. The Florida Division of Highway
Safety and Motor Vehicles (FDHSMV) has a donation line item in the online tag
renewal process where citizens can donate funds to purchase car seats. Also
called the “$2 Difference Program,” 100% of these funds go to the purchase of
car seats. At the beginning of each year FDHSMV gives these seats to OPRC to
pass on to technicians of the counties who received donations. The donations
have dwindled each year, so we encourage you to promote the program to anyone
who has a Florida vehicle tag. |
