Stipends: Stipends are available to CPS Instructors for teaching CPS Technician certification courses. Those teaching within 50 miles of their work or home are eligible for a $640 stipend while those teaching outside of this area are eligible for a $1,500 stipend. To apply for a stipend, please visit: http://www.floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/oprc/Scholarships1.asp We strongly encourage instructors to consider teaching courses in underserved areas such as those marked on this map provided by FDOT - http://www.floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/NewsBot.asp?MODE=VIEW&ID=1886. Justification can be made for instructors to receive more than one stipend per grant year for teaching in these areas. Scholarships: Between now and the end of the year, the certification for almost 500 Florida CPS professionals will expire. As a reminder, the OPRC offers scholarships to help with Safe Kids certification and recertification fees. One great benefit is that proxies can do seat check-offs in lieu of instructors for technician recertifications. If you are interested in becoming a proxy, apply to the OPRC to pay the Safe Kids proxy application fee and coordinate with your local instructor on obtaining a testimonial.
